London Day 1 - New Years Eve

We left Greensboro at noon on Friday and arrived in London around 7 am on Saturday.  From there, we took the tube (subway) into the city and grabbed breakfast in the train station.  Since we couldn't check in at the hotel until 2 pm, we wandered around the train station for a while until an unexpected guest walked up beside me....  GREG!!!

Yayyyy!!!
Apparently ever since we decided to make the trip to London, Grego had planned on telling me he couldn't come because of work and then show up to surprise me!  And dang did he get me!  My whole fam was behind the entire ruse and they are quite amazing secret-keepers!  I was so shocked and so ecstatic about being able to share this trip with him :)

Once the surprise wore off a little, we decided to wander out into the city.  First stop:  the Thames River.  On the walk to the bridge we came across Westminster Abbey, the Eye, Big Ben and Parliament.

We needed a little pick-me-up so we popped into the Coal Hole for beers and muchies.

Before heading to the hotel we walked down the Mall to Buckingham Palace.

As soon as we checked in and got to the room, we passed the heck out.  We napped for about three hours, cleaned up then headed across the street to Il Posto for a fab Italian dinner.

Instead of fighting the crowds of people on the streets to watch the fireworks, we were fortunate to have an awesome view from our hotel window.  The firework show was incredible and so was the bubbly :)

We watched the live firework coverage on tv while watching out our window

It was a spectacular way to bring in the New Year.  I hope all of you had a great time too!!

More to come soon!
